Founded in 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts, by friends Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Ray Tabano, the band Aerosmith quickly established itself as one of the greatest forces in rock. Known as “America’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band,” Aerosmith stood out for the raw energy of their performances, impactful lyrics, and their unique blend of blues and hard rock.
The charismatic Steven Tyler, with his unmistakable voice and iconic stage presence, and the legendary guitarist Joe Perry, nicknamed the “Toxic Twins” alongside Tyler, became the faces and creative forces behind the band. Over the decades, Aerosmith left an indelible mark on rock history, influencing generations of musicians and releasing timeless hits.
Despite several lineup changes, the band maintained its essence. Ray Tabano was replaced in 1971 by Brad Whitford, solidifying the classic lineup: Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (lead guitar), Brad Whitford (rhythm guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), and Joey Kramer (drums). After internal conflicts and lineup changes in the 1980s, Perry and Whitford left the band for a time, being replaced by Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay, respectively. However, the return of Perry and Whitford in 1984 marked the revitalization of Aerosmith and the beginning of an era of tremendous commercial and artistic success.
With unforgettable hits and iconic albums, Aerosmith is synonymous with innovation, longevity, and passion for rock and roll. Discover the discography of Aerosmith and the albums that shaped their legendary journey:
